This beam when completed will be used to transform
a steel mill ladle crane into a maintenance crane.
(Left)The hook for this lifting beam will be a 200
to capacity shank hook manufactured by The Crosby
Group. This hook weights 1020 lbs. and stands 4'2"
tall
These
pieces of 10" diameter bar
stock will be the lifting trunnions
for this beam.
Here Mike has laid out
and is
ready to cut the access hole for the
hook nut and bearing.

finish welded to through the end cap
This beam when completed will be
used to transform a steel mill ladle crane into a maintance
crane.
Here
is the start of the lay out of the beam itself.
The center hole in the bottom plate is for the
hook.
A 6" plate with bearing seat will be placed on
this base plate.
After
the turnions have been placed the bearing seat
and one side are put in place and tack welded.
Then the fun begins. There will be over 100 lbs.
of weld wire in this lifting beam.

The bearing seat under Mike's head is 6" plat.
End plates on the trunnions are 2" plate.
The
second side is set in place after the inside is
welded.
This beam is gaining weight by the minute!!!!
