200 Ton LIFTING BEAM FABRICATION cont.

(Left) Mike S. lays out the lifting lugs prior to welding. These parts will be full penetration welded to the lug side plates. These trunnions are 11" in diameter. The plates are 2" plate.



(Below) The plates and trunnions are tack welded in place. Mike starts the welding on a weld positioner.

 

The final welds are brought out all the way to fit a 2" diameter cable.



The completed lifting lug stands 7' tall
and has a total weight 1 ton.
